2012 Yard Olympics

Growing up, my parents and our neighbors had an annual "Yard Olympics". Yard Olympics was basically a bunch of mini tournaments where the adults got together and played yard games like badminton and horseshoes. Over the past few years, some of our old neighbors have been saying we need to have another Yard Olympics. So, this year, my dad decided we would (and since the kids are grown.. we got to play too!)

The 2012 Yard Olympics was held at my dad and Lisa's house with both old neighbors and some of their new neighbors. We played corn hole, boccie ball, horseshoes, ladder ball, basketball, and washer toss. Despite the heat we had a great time and we're already looking forward to the 2013 Olympics!

The afternoon began with people drawing numbers to make teams.

Once the teams were made.. Frank lit the "Yard Olympic torch"!

Then the games began!

Unfortunately, we ran out of daylight and we weren't able to finish the tournaments.  So, the teams that were still left in each bracket were put into a cup and names were drawn to determine winners.

The winners won trophies and prizes!

Overall it was a success - a great night of fun with friends and family! Can't wait 'til next year!
